By now most online retailers will have heard about the security breach that has just occurred on the Lush websites in Australia and New Zealand. It’s not the first security breach for Lush as their UK website was also recently targeted. Lush is now advising their online customers in Australia and New Zealand to talk to their banks about cancelling their credit cards. Wow!

Using social media marketing for your business? Last week the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) set an interesting precedent for social media marketing responsibility. The Federal Court ruled that companies are responsible for what the public are posting about their products and services on social media sites. Allergy clinic, Allergy Pathway was fined because it had posts from clients on their Facebook Wall as well as client testimonials posted by Allergy Pathway on its website and on Twitter that were found to be false, misleading and deceptive.

There’s a new file sharing gang in town!  Meet Ge.tt. Sure, there are plenty of them out there, but this one is just a little bit different. As soon as you click ‘upload’, your file is ready to share. No waiting for the upload, just send out the short URL it provides.  It even provides easy access to share the link by email or on Facebook and Twitter!

It’s great to see a service that’s so simple to use and doesn’t need any explanation. It’s a single click to share a file and there’s no need to install any plugins or applets.  It all just works in the browser!

The latest update to the Google search engine results page (the SERPs as we like to call it) sees Google integrating the website listings with Google Places for local searches. To see what I’m talking about search for any business and append it with your local town or city.
