If you’re looking to expand your Adwords campaign and get some advertising on high traffic websites, then Google Ad Planner is for you. Google recently announced some great new features to the Ad Planner.
You can now see a list of the top 1000 sites worldwide, based on unique visitors. According to Google, this list will be updated monthly as new Ad Planner datasets are released. For each website you can see how many unique visitors, page views, category, and whether or not the site offer ads.
Not surprisingly perhaps, Facebook tops the list followed by the search engines, Wikipedia, a couple of portals, and Blogspot.

The big news is that you can now use this top 1000 exclusively for your content network ads in Adwords. To do this, add a filter to your content network to exclude ‘non Ad Planner 1000′ sites.
If you’re looking at extending your campaign further and placing ads directly on sites, checkout the Google Ad Planner tool. It allows you to target for specific locations, demographics, keywords, and domain suffixes (eg. ‘.com.au’) to find the most appropriate sites for your campaign. This can greatly help you take the guess work out of your media planning.
